SIGNATURE. It will promote the transfer of knowledge in innovation and energy.

This week, a collaboration agreement was signed between Conexión, the company in charge of the development, construction, and operation of the Kimal-Lo Aguirre HVDC transmission project, and the University of Antofagasta (UA), an institution that, through its Antofagasta Energy Development Center (CDEA), stands out for its generation of knowledge and value for the regional and national community.
The agreement will facilitate access to reciprocal information and provide the opportunity for professionals, students, and academics from both institutions to participate in training and technology transfer activities.
This partnership seeks to provide more opportunities for students, but also to foster academic research and the development of new knowledge in the challenges of incorporating direct current projects in Chile, project engineering, security, smart grids, among others.
During the event, held at the university, the Regional Secretary of Energy, Dafne Pino, emphasized that “the Ki-mal-Lo Aguirre project is emblematic for both the Ministry of Energy and our country. This project will be the first high-voltage direct current transmission line, allowing the energy generated by the various renewable energy plants in the north to be injected into the Kimal substation and transported to the Lo Aguirre substation, connecting the north with the center of the country.”

EDUCATIONAL MISSION
On the other hand, the rector of the University of Antofagasta, Marcos Cikutovic, stated that
“signing this type of initiative is tremendously valuable, firstly, because it commits the parties and, secondly, because it involves elements, such as energy, that are tremendously important for our country. Therefore, I am very proud of the leading role our institution is taking in this type of initiative, willing to participate to move it forward for the benefit of our students, faculty, and, of course, our region and the country.”
